Our crews were on duty through the holidays, as they are every day of the year. We are grateful for their dedication and proud to serve South County alongside them. ## Southern Berkshire Ambulance 2025: By the Numbers ![Happy New Year from Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad](https://southernberkshireambulance.com/_astro/happy.Cw3heKsW_ZCbroW.webp) Wishing everyone in our community a happy, healthy, and safe new year. 2025 was a strong year for SBAS: - Approximately **3,000 calls** for service - Coverage for **9 communities** in Southern Berkshire County - **32 EMS professionals** on staff - More than **60% of calls** billed to Medicare or Medicaid - **$291,816** raised in community donations — our best fundraising year ever Thank you to everyone who made 2025 such a strong year for this organization. ## New Ambulances on the Way Our two new Braun Type 1 4x4 ambulances are on order, with expected delivery in November 2026 and February 2027\. These vehicles replace our aging primary units and will serve South County for the next 10–12 years. ## Uncertainty Rings in the New Year Federal funding decisions and potential Medicare and Medicaid cuts create real uncertainty for EMS services like ours. More than 60% of our calls are billed to these programs. We are monitoring developments closely and will keep our community informed. ## SBAS Board Member Adam Carlotto Named Great Barrington Interim Police Chief ![Adam Carlotto named Great Barrington Interim Police Chief](https://southernberkshireambulance.com/_astro/officeradam.CCN5NXie_Z1LduOi.webp) In this 2016 photo, it was Officer Adam. Ten short years later, he is Interim Police Chief — and still a valued SBAS board member. We congratulate Board member Adam Carlotto on his appointment as Great Barrington’s Interim Police Chief. Adam has been a valued member of our board and a strong community partner. We look forward to continuing to work alongside him in his new role. ## Looking Ahead to 2026 2026 will be an important year for SBAS: budget season with our six assessment towns, delivery of our new ambulances, and continued donor relationship-building. We look forward to keeping you informed every step of the way through this newsletter. Support our mission ## You can make a difference. Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
